Some more pics...these are of the Luau we went to at the Polynesian Cultural Center. It is one of the best shows here in Oahu.

Aloha, We are still settling in...but we have met neighbors, have received our household goods and have even picked up the Toyota from the port. We also have discovered more rainbows here than anywhere else...now we know why there's a rainbow on their license plates. Now to finish unpacking and have our broken stuff fixed. Yes, we have broken stuff again. That's something you're used too in the military. However, we do learn from it each time...hopefully so it won't happen again next time.

Since I last wrote, David got strep for Christmas. I think he would have been happier with a lump of coal. Instead he got a lump on Penicillin in the butt!!! He is feeling better now thank goodness. The girls have made some new friends and are having fun, I think! Ashley starts school next week, thank goodness....it's tough having both home for so long, they fight more and more each day.

We also have TV and Internet now!!! Yeah! So there should be pics attached to this post. Enjoy. More pics to come soon.

Talk to you soon, have a safe and Happy New Year!

ALOHA!

Hello everyone, we are here in Hawaii. It took me a while to have the time to write. We are still in the process of getting settled but have a townhouse to live in and kitchen stuff to cook and eat off of; and our Christmas tree is up and decorated. David still has to work on putting up the outside lights; it's our first time for that and it's not as easy as it looks. I will post pics as soon as possible. We actually live on the Alimanu Military Reservation or AMR. It's a huge crater and we live on the rim of it. There is new housing down in the crater but the waitlist was too long for that.

The weather is beautiful. Warm every day which is right up our alley. It's the rainy season this month and next. That's our winter! And that consists of cloudy and off/on drizzle. This week it's supposed to be nice and sunny.

We are still waiting for our SUV and Household Goods, both of which are still on their respective boats. I am hoping that our vehicle gets here this week...I hate driving a Chevy mini-van with a passion. Not to mention the cost! Driving here is a challenge, thank goodness we have a GPS. It's a necessity here. The island is not that big but roads are very confusing. That hasn't stopped me though, I've found Wal Mart, Sam's, Ross, and the NEX (the Navel Exchange store on Pearl Harbor.

The kids and dog have adjusted well. The time change wasn't as bad as we all had thought. We got Ashley registered at her private school; she starts Jan 6th. The public schools here are less then stellar. Education is not a priority; surfing takes the #1 spot. Kindergarden is not even required here! Needless to say, Amber will stay home with me and may go to preschool in the fall.

Well, that's it for now. I'll post more as things develop.

Zoo

We walked around the butterfly tent for an hour waiting for Ashley to 'catch' a butterfly.

My dad and step mom were in-town visiting this weekend and we went to the San Antonio Zoo on Saturday. It was a beautiful day...we were able to take some good pictures! We saw all the animals before Amber got too tired.

Minnie Mouse & Jasmine

Amber was Minnie Mouse and Ashley was Jasmine this year...Amber was too cute and the more she wore the costume the more she sounded like Minnie with the high pitched voice of hers. Ashley looked great! So grown up. I think they had fun this year, it was the first time they got to go door-to-door. Living on post, it's pretty safe. They each got tons of candy too. Thank goodness that's over...now on to the next ordeal.

Ashley

Ashley had to think long and hard before having her picture taken with this guy...it's Sea World's Jack, who doesn't look too creepy during the day (at least I didn't think so). Amber apparently did not agree...would not go within 50 feet of him; she'll stick with Shamu!

Amber

She's just too cute...wearing a friends headband. Too bad she won't keep stuff like this on.

Finally.....

Well, finally we have orders...we have booked the movers, booked the tickets, reserved hotels and cars! HOLY MOLY! We are moving to Hawaii! I really don't think the reality has sunk in yet. It's funny, the other day Amber and I were in a store and out of the clear blue she says, " I want to go to Hawaii." Fortunately she doesn't realize what that entails! She just wants to swim with the dolphins. We are all excited and things are moving along...

On another note, Ashley got her first report card for the year and she's doing really well. A's and B's! So as a treat we went to her favorite restaurant for dinner tonight. Tomorrow's Halloween and we'll be posting the girls in costume soon.

So stay tuned...

Ashley's Lost Tooth

Now that Ashley's 7 yrs old, she's starting to loose her front teeth...Her first one came out last week. Thank goodness I had their pictures taken beforehand...what a goofy smile! She was lucky the toothfairy had cash that day! By the way, when does the TF stop coming?? Soon I hope...or I'll be broke!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Skaggs Family (Ohana in Hawaiian) Blog...We have created this blog to help us keep in touch with family and friends while stationed in Hawaii. I will try to post updates every couple of days, if not weekly, and include pictures so everyone can see how we are doing.
