Honolulu Zoo/Waikiki Beach

Beach across the street from zoo.
Surfer statue at entrance to beach.
Amber lounging.
Posing at the zoo.

The zoo here is nice. Not as big as some other zoo's we've been too but it's nice. Lots of animals to see and they have some baby tiger cubs, which is really cool!

Manoa Falls Hike

It's only one tree!
All of us at the top!
Ashley took this pic of us...not too bad!
Me and the girls standing in front of a BIG tree!
Our little hikers with their walking sticks! David didn't need one.

We did this hike on Christmas Eve. I think it's approx 800 ft elevation. We had fun. Got muddy and fed the local mosquitoes. The mud here is red and we soon found out that it stains everything! I was proud, none of us fell or went over a cliff!

First Visit to the Beach!!

View of the Diamondhead.
Beautiful clean sand...
My clan playing in the sand...
The park we walked across to get to the beach...

This beach allowed dogs, so we took Poppie. She loved it...ran around playing, catching sticks and eating sand. She ate so much sand that she was pooping sand castles the next day!!!

We can't wait til the weather warms up a bit so we can go more often. I want to go to North Shore and watch the pro surfers!

Sorry....

Hello, I'm sorry that I haven't been posting as much as I should. I've been really busy with the house and errands during the day then helping Ashley with homework and doing dinner in the evening. Things are going well...how could it not we live in paradise. The house is settled and I should be able to take pics and post them soon. We live in a building with 4 other units, all of which have great neighbors. There are several kids for the girls to play with...which is nice. The weather is always nice...it's been a little chilly at night but at that's our 'winter'. I am actually cold in the mornings, only 70 in the house. The houses here do not come with heaters...if you have central A/C that's exactly what you have, no heat! Not that we really need it because it warms up after an hour or so...

The furniture repair people have been here the last two days and they are still not done. I must say that they are some of the most talented woodworkers I've seen. Let's see, what else....well, we took the girls to the zoo a couple of weeks ago and Amber got attacked by a peacock. She was sitting in her high chair next too me at the outdoor cafe and along comes a male peacock, apparently looking for lunch and decided to start pecking at Amber trying to get her chicken nugget. Well, Amber was hysterical, screaming...but that didn't stop the bird. I swooped her out of the chair, while David shoo'd away the peacock. After Amber calmed down, we told her next time, just throw the chicken on the ground. I think she's scarred for life!

Well that's it for now. I will do a couple more posts with pics...

Love you all,
Christine, David, Ashley and Amber

OOPS!

The Alamo
Proud parents and brother with the graduate
The Skaggs family....
David and his advisor for Phase I
Say "Cheese"

Sorry I hit the wrong button and posted the last blog without the grad pics....so here they are! I didn't get the actual pic of him getting the degree cause my damn camera would work; plus the lighting was so bad that most the pics didn't come out anyway!

Graduation...sorry it's a little late!

Bullwinkle ears with balloons! They were originally David's but then Kenny had to try them on...very cute don't you think???
Our waitress Dora, and her Bullwinkle creation for David!
Kenny - King for a day!

Here are some pics from my in-laws visit as well as David's graduation. He always looks extra handsome in his uniform. We enjoyed the time with Bob and Bobbie as well as getting to spend time with Kenny (and on his birthday too!). Some pics are from dinner at a place called Magic Time Machine in San Antonio TX. This time David was the focus of their jokes! Enjoy!
